Hi there! And welcome to The Hungry Dater. My name is Molly and I’m a 30-something single that’s had my fair share of weird, awkward, unusual, and sometimes downright terrible dates. Oddly enough, though, it’s made me something of an expert on how to get through–and even enjoy–some of these ridiculous experiences.
The short answer: through food. Yes, my saving grace in this wacky world of dating is that I’m also a foodie. And thank God dates usually include food.
I have had so many of these unusual and sometimes downright hysterical experiences, that my friends and family started urging me to write them down and share them. So here I am. I decided to share my stories, recipes, and quirky pickup lines that men have used on me; in the hopes that the recipes that help me live a strong, fun, outgoing, and creative life in the face of my crazy dating world will help you feel less alone in yours. Because really, life should be amazing, full, and mouth watering no matter what your “relationship status.”
So with that in mind, think of me as the Carrie Bradshaw of the single’s foodie scene. I’m not afraid to overshare regarding the good, the bad, and the delicious. These anecdotes from my dating life–and my kitchen–will hopefully inform, entertain, and relay what great fare you should eat, drink, and enjoy to make these harrowing “bad date” experiences bearable, and even fun!
So with all that said, thanks for coming to The Hungry Dater. Please, stay a while, introduce yourself, and eat as much wonderful, real, flavorful food as you can to stay healthy, happy, and hot.
About this site…
This site is mostly about food. But food and love have gone hand in hand for several millennia, and though the dating scene has changed unbelievably and completely, I have realized that mixing food and dating is a wonderful way to enhance both–or sometimes great food simply distracts from a terrible date. So that’s what this site is about–how mixing food and love can enhance both experiences.
That said, most of what we talk about here are recipes, bar reviews, the art of mixing cocktails, and supporting our health and bodies through what we put in them. But we also talk a lot about connecting: whether with family, friends, or significant others; because I firmly believe that cuisine and connection are intertwined more than any of us realize–and not always just in relation to romance.
So, while I can’t necessarily share with you a pot roast recipe that can put a ring on your finger, I can help you examine how best to enjoy this crazy journey through love and life: by keeping your humor and exciting your taste buds.
Welcome to The Hungry Dater! And Happy Cooking!!!
