With our CSA and BB’s interest in salads, I’ve been on the lookout for some new, great salad recipes. Honestly, I have loved the bagged salads at Costco, but BB isn’t too into that. He thinks it’s better to make our own. As much as I love the ease of those salads, I can’t say I disagree. So, knowing that, I decided to make a compilation of a whole bunch of salads I plan to make this summer. Hopefully this will help us use our CSA every week and help me have a bit more in my arsenal of great homemade dressings.
I can’t say I won’t ever use the bagged salads again, but I can say I’m looking forward to expanding my salad horizons. So without further ado, here’s a list of salads and dressings I plan to make and use this summer!
Not a whole lot better than Bacon and Avocado! And hey, since I don’t love chicken, this actually kills two birds with one stone by getting a chicken recipe AND a salad recipe!
There’s a Strawberry Balsamic Salad like this at Sup in midtown Reno, and it’s STELLAR. Hopefully this will be a great at-home version!
I seriously LOVE balsamic beet and arugula salad with goat cheese. But honestly, I’ve never thought of putting walnuts in it! Guess I have something new to try. 🙂
I really don’t think there’s anything more that needs to be said other than “Avocado” and “Shrimp” in the same sentence.
This one looks great, and we always get some really good corn at the end of the summer in our CSA.
Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad Copy Cat
I used to absolutely LIVE for this salad. But these days I’m hard pressed to even go into a chain restaurant. I’m hoping the home version is awesome!
BB’s kids actually like peas! Lol. I’m excited to make them with a bunch of other stuff for all of us.
Happy Cooking!

We’ve talked about my tendency toward cocktailing by season. So when Sweet Tea Vodka became “a thing,” my deep-summer drink became Sweet Tea Vodka and Lemonade. But as time passed and thriving became my #1 goal, I became interested in the ingredients present in the food I consume. I wondered just what was in the Sweet Tea Vodkas I was buying at the store. Combine that with a serious wheat allergy, and I felt it was time to learn to make this awesome Summer Spirit myself. Turns out, I’m so sorry I didn’t learn earlier. This is seriously. So. Easy. Maybe the next thing I learn to do is make the lemonade that mixes with it! 😉
I don’t know if anyone here knows, but by day I’m a trust and estate attorney. Last year, I lost my job at my firm and recently started my own practice. It’s been a weird year because then COVID started and got my schedule all “off” again! But now I’m getting back into a groove and working more regular hours, and also getting excited about the prospect of summer. So I’m feeling like I’m back! And there’s no better way to re-enter the world than with my favorite BBQ Tri Tip Recipe–just in time for this summer of reclaiming my identity!

When I finally met my person, THD changed. I no longer had to keep myself interested in dates, they were fun anyway. I also discovered that my journey in finding my person could help others do the same. Thus, the new THD was born. Here we focused more on whole, healthy living. We started learning that outlook and mental attitude was just as important as eating habits, movement, and food choice, to live a wondrous life.
